Multani Mal Modi College organised Lecture and Tiranga Rally dedicated to Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day

The NCC (Girls) and NCC (Boys) wings of Multani Mal Modi College in collaboration with 4PB girls BN, 5PB Boys BN and 3PB BN, NCC, Patiala organised an event to mark the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. The main objective of this event was to pay homage to the freedom fighters and the people martyred, displaced and disappeared during partition of 1947.
College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar in his address said that our oral history and the written literature by writers such as Sayadat Hassan Manto and Sanwal Dhami is shadowed with the deep trauma and brutal witness of killing millions of people on both sides of border during partition. He said that we are indebted to the glorious struggle of our freedom fighters but we paid a deadly price for our freedom. He said that it is time to learn from our past and to strive for making India a developed and peaceful nation.
Prof. Ved Prakash Sharma, Dean Student Welfare said that it is our collective responsibility to not forget the wounds of partition and to heal them in every possible way.
Lt. Dr.Rohit Sachdeva and Dr Nidhi Rani Gupta, ANO and CTO of both wings of NCC motivated the students to serve the nation and dedicate them to the welfare and development of our nation. Dr. Sumeet Kumar CTO of Air Wing was also present in this event.
In this event the cadets Paras Manchanda, Pardeep Kaur, Dilpreet Kaur, Azama and Sejal presented the stories penned down by Sanwal Dhami songs and speeches about tragedies and trauma of partition and delivered a message for a peaceful country based on mutual brotherhood.
In the end a Tiranga Rally was organised through College Campus to Polo Ground Chowk, Patiala. In this rally all the staff members of the college, NCC Cadets and large number of students participated.

ਸਥਾਨਿਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ 4PB (ਲੜਕੀਆਂ), 5PB Boys BN (ਲੜਕੇ) ਅਤੇ 3PB BN Air Wing ਅਤੇ ‘ਏਕ ਭਾਰਤ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਭਾਰਤ’ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੜੀ ਅਧੀਨ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ‘ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਮਹਾਂਉਤਸਵ’ ਨੂੰ 1947 ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਦੇ ਅੱਲੇ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਤਿਰੰਗਾ ਰੈਲੀ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਸੰਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਹੂਤੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੁਤੰਤਰਤਾ ਸੰਗਰਾਮੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਾਸੂਮ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸੰਨ 1947 ਵਿੱਚ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਰਾਤ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਦੇ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਬੰਨਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ, ਗੁੰਮ ਗਏ ਜਾਂ ਉਜਾੜ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ.ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕੈਡਟਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਿਤ ਕਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਤੇ ਯਾਦਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਸੁਆਦਤ ਹਸਨ ਮੰਟੋ ਤੇ ਸਾਂਵਲ ਧਾਮੀ ਵਰਗੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਲੇਖਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਵੰਡ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮਾਂ ਤੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਤਲੇਆਮ ਦਾ ਗਹਿਰਾ ਪਰਛਾਵਾਂ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਸੁਤੰਤਰਤਾ ਸੰਗਰਾਮੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਹੀ ਕਰਜ਼ਦਾਰ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਪਰ ਇਸ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਾਰੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਅਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਅਮਨ-ਪਸੰਦ ਤੇ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਮੁਲਕ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਡੀਨ, ਸਟੂਡੈਂਟਸ ਵੈੱਲਫੇਅਰ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਵੇਦ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਸਮੂਹਿਕ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਵੰਡ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਭੁੱਲੀਏ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਰਨ ਲਈ ਯਤਨ ਕਰੀਏ।
ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਲੈਫ਼ਟੀਨੈਂਟ ਡਾ.ਰੋਹਿਤ ਸਚਦੇਵਾ, ਏ.ਐਨ.ਉ, ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ. ਨਿਧੀ ਰਾਣੀ ਗੁਪਤਾ ਸੀ.ਟੀ.ਉ ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਨ-ਮਨ-ਧਨ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ਼-ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ. ਸੁਮੀਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਸੀ.ਟੀ.ਉ, ਏਅਰ ਵਿੰਗ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ।
ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੈਡਟਾਂ ਪਾਰਸ ਮਨਚੰਦਾ, ਪਰਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਦਿਲਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਆਜ਼ਮਾ ਤੇ ਸੇਜਲ ਨੇ ਵੰਡ ਬਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਾਵਲ ਧਾਮੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ, ਦੇਸ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਸਤੁਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਅਮਨ-ਪਸੰਦ ਤੇ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਮੁਲਕ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਅਹਿਦ ਲਿਆ।
ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਸਟਾਫ਼, ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਕੈਸੇਟਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਤਿਰੰਗਾ ਰੈਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਹ ਰੈਲੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਪੋਲੋ ਗਰਾਊਂਡ ਚੌਂਕ ਤੱਕ ਕੱਢੀ ਗਈ।
